SPECIAL EVENT

Ricky Mokel

Ricky Mokel’s twisted innocence and unique brand of laugh-out-loud, family-friendly humor could combine to be the most refreshing and hilarious performance you’ve ever seen. As he often reminds people about any number of his unexpected assertions, “You don’t know!”

When you leave Ricky’s show, not only will you have his “You don’t know!” catch-phrase stuck in your brain, you’ll feel tired from laughing; amazed that someone could be that funny without being vulgar. And you’ll have to agree with Ricky when he boasts, “I think about stuff.”

Don’t miss an opportunity to see this veteran comedian live. In addition to starring in One the Show, a 22-person musical variety show at the Alabama Theatre in North Myrtle Beach, SC, for the past two decades, Ricky has routinely sold-out that 2,000 venue with his own one-man shows there. Ricky Mokel is the creation of comedian and Georgia native, Grant Turner. A University of Georgia graduate who began doing stand-up comedy fulltime when he was fired from his position as an account executive in an Atlanta advertising agency. Grant admits that he left work early one Friday in the middle of an important meeting to catch a flight to Daytona, FL to do his first out-of-town gig. Goodbye 9-to-5. Hello coast-to-coast comedy career. In 1984 Grant won the Atlanta Punchline’s Great Southeastern Laugh-Off competition. The next year he appeared on NBC’s Star Search and headlined all over the country. In 1990, however, a new, more improvisational comedy persona took over his show. From out of the blues came Ricky Mokel, the gifted idiot. Thanks to the pandemic lockdown, Ricky took time off from performing. But now he’s back and ready to tell you about the stuff he’s been thinking about. Grant Turner lives in Myrtle Beach, SC with his wife, Kay. They have five children and four grandchildren.
